While it is fine to play it without max gear, the absolut top tier damage comes with having everything maxed. Other classes often need some very important tripods and are kinda fine then. Like DB, needs like 5. For Gunslinger, every single one will push the dmg.The reasons to play it are the highish apm, high mobility, high stagger, high destruction, two built in class dashes, and general tankiness.
